Dudley and White store, ca. 1914
The Dudley and White store, photo studio, and cafe, ca. 1914, decorated for Carnival Week with American flags. This store was established by Joseph Dudley and John White in 1895 at the north corner of C Street and Ocean Boulevard. The swastika symbol on their sign was at the time an ancient symbol of good luck, until it was forever corrupted by the Nazis. Dudley's clothing store still (2002) occupies this site at 203 Ocean Boulevard.
